About Me
My name is Taylor Poslosky, and I vividly remember the day my congregation, Beth Torah, moved from the JCC into our own building in Overland Park, Kansas. We danced and sang and walked our Torah scrolls the few blocks to our new home. The Jewish community has remained a place of joy and comfort for me throughout my life. Shabbat always started at home with blessings over the candles, wine, and challah—which we shared with our dogs! Our family went to Shabbat morning services every week, and I quickly asked my dad to go with him to Torah study. My thirst for Jewish knowledge equaled my passion for Jewish community. I found that through summer camp and youth group. Both were integral parts of my Jewish identity.
I attended William Jewell College where I received my bachelor’s degree in Religion. There were not many Jewish students, so I sought out opportunities to spend my summers immersed in Jewish study and community. After college I moved to Scottsdale, Arizona to be the Director of Youth Engagement for Congregation Beth Israel. I loved working in a congregational setting. I built relationships with the kids and their families, crafted fun Jewish programming, and spent my summers living and learning with the kids at our summer camp. It was a joy to work alongside other Jewish professionals who live and breathe Judaism as deeply as I do.
During my time at HUC I had the opportunity to serve many Jewish communities including summer camp, congregations, and Hillel. While each had its own personality, the common thread that drew me in every time was making meaningful connections with members. I love getting to know people and finding out what sparks their passion. Those connections make celebrating the milestones in Jewish life that much sweeter.
In my free time I love to read and watch Kansas City football. Go Chiefs! I enjoy walking and hiking, especially during the fall as the leaves change colors. Those who know and love me know my passion for ice cream regardless of the season. I love Graeter’s ice cream in Cincinnati, Purple Door in Milwaukee, and I cannot wait to explore the local spots in my next pulpit.
